We revisit the possibility of a Dirac fermion dark matter candidate in the light of current $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies by investigating a minimal extension of the Standard Model with a horizontal $\mathrm{U(1)}^{\prime}$ local symmetry.
