Overcompensation is done so that when the signal and idler are combined at the OPA their respective photons have both been stretched from the 0.2 ps durations they had at the SPDC source to ∼ \sim 3 ps, with one beam having normal dispersion and the other anomalous dispersion zhang13 so that the cross correlation of the signal-idler Gaussian state is recovered shapiro10
