A Proper grounding of samples is crucial for the stability of the measured energy of photoelectrons on the scale < 1 <1 meV. Typical clamping of BSCCO samples with Ta was proven to be insufficient as it often caused a poor ground connection and a finite, up to 10 meV energy shift, manifested as a gap in the ARPES spectra. To avoid this, we placed a thin In foil under each BSCCO sample that melted during the film growth and formed a perfect ground connection during the ARPES experiments.
