We report on a study of the process e+e- --> pi+(D D*bar)- at Ecm=4.26 GeV using a 525 /pb data sample collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring.

We minimize the effect of the D D mass resolution by plotting M recoil = R M ( π D ) + M ( D ) − m D M^{\rm recoil}=RM(\pi D)+M(D)-m_{D} , where R M ( π D ) RM(\pi D) is the recoil mass inferred from four-momentum conservation and M ( D ) M(D) is the measured D D mass
