CDF uses a ( z z , ϕ \phi , θ \theta ) coordinate system with the z z -axis in the direction of the proton beam; ϕ \phi and θ \theta are the azimuthal and polar angle respectively. The pseudorapidity is defined as η = − ln ( tan θ 2 ) \eta=-\ln(\tan{\theta\over 2}) , and the transverse momentum and energy as p T = p sin θ p_{\rm T}=p\sin\theta and E T = E sin θ E_{\rm T}=E\sin\theta , respectively. Missing transverse energy ( E T = | E → T | \mbox{${\not\!\!E_{\rm T}}$}=|\mbox{${\not\!\!\vec{E}_{\rm T}}$}| ) is defined as E → T = − ∑ i E T i 𝐧 ^ 𝐢 \mbox{${\not\!\!\vec{E}_{\rm T}}$}=-\sum_{i}E_{\rm T}^{i}{\bf{\hat{n}_{i}}} where 𝐧 ^ 𝐢 {\bf{\hat{n}_{i}}} is a unit vector in the transverse plane that points from the beam-line to the i t h i^{th} calorimeter tower
