A cylindrical coordinate system with the z z axis along the proton direction is used, in which θ \theta is the polar angle. We define E T = E sin θ E_{T}=E\,\sin\theta , p T = p sin θ p_{T}=p\,\sin\theta , and pseudorapidity η = − ln tan ( θ / 2 ) \eta=-\ln\tan(\theta/2) . The missing transverse energy is defined by E / T = − ∑ i E T i n ^ i \mbox{${\hbox{$E$\kern-6.00006pt\lower-0.43057pt\hbox{/}}}_{T}$}=-\sum_{i}E_{T}^{i}\hat{n}_{i} , where i i is the calorimeter tower number and n ^ i \hat{n}_{i} is a unit vector perpendicular to the beam axis and pointing at the i t h i^{th} calorimeter tower. The missing transverse energy is corrected for jets and muons. The H T H_{T} is defined by the scalar sum of the E / T {\hbox{$E$\kern-6.00006pt\lower-0.43057pt\hbox{/}}}_{T}

The energy inside a cone of radius R = ( Δ ϕ ) 2 + ( Δ η ) 2 = 0.4 R=\sqrt{(\Delta\phi)^{2}+(\Delta\eta)^{2}}=0.4 around the lepton is required to be less than 10 % 10\% of the electron (or muon) E T E_{T} ( p T p_{T} )
