A direct measurement of the total decay width of the W boson G_W is presented using 350 pb-1 of data from ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron.

Throughout this Letter units of ℏ = c = 1 \hbar=c=1 are used such that momenta and masses are in units of MeV or GeV. CDF uses a cylindrical coordinate system in which ϕ \phi is the azimuthal angle, θ \theta is the polar angle, and z z points in the proton beam direction. The pseudorapidity, η \eta , is defined as η ≡ − ln tan ( θ / 2 ) \eta\equiv-\ln\tan(\theta/2) . The transverse plane is the plane perpendicular to the z z axis. The transverse energy is defined to be E T = E sin θ E_{T}=E\sin\theta
