Electroweak Baryogenesis from Temperature-Varying Couplings

The fundamental couplings of the Standard Model are known to vary as a function of energy scale through the Renormalisation Group (RG), and have been measured at the electroweak scale at colliders.

• However, the variation of the couplings as a function of temperature need not be the same, raising the possibility that couplings in the early universe were not at the values predicted by RG evolution.
• We study how such temperature-variance of fundamental couplings can aid the production of a baryon asymmetry in the universe through electroweak baryogenesis.
• We do so in the context of the Standard Model augmented by higher-dimensional operators up to dimension 6.
