The Type II seesaw model requires that its scalar doublet $H$ and triplet $\Delta$ get specific patterns of VEVs $\langle H\rangle\propto(0,1)^{T}$ and $\langle\Delta\rangle\propto(0,0,1)^{T}$ to accommodate neutrino masses.
