The LHCb bounds on the branching ratio of rare decay $D^0 \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ and the constraints on the branching ratio of $D^+ \to \pi^+ \mu^+ \mu^-$ in the nonresonant regions enable us to improve constraints on new physics contributions.
