Efforts to develop more efficient multiple hypothesis testing procedures for false discovery rate (FDR) control have focused on incorporating an estimate of the proportion of true null hypotheses (such procedures are called adaptive) or exploiting heterogeneity across tests via some optimal weighting scheme.
