We demonstrate that topological transport phenomena, characteristic of Weyl semimetals, namely the semi-quantized anomalous Hall effect and the chiral magnetic effect (equilibrium magnetic-field-driven current), may be thought of as two distinct manifestations of the same underlying phenomenon, the chiral anomaly.
