We use the convention that “momentum” refers to p c pc and “mass” to m c 2 mc^{2}

The CDF II detector uses a cylindrical coordinate system in which ϕ \phi is the azimuthal angle, r r is the radius from the nominal beam line, and z z points in the proton beam direction. The transverse ( r − ϕ r-\phi ) plane is perpendicular to the z z axis. Transverse momentum and energy are the respective projections of momentum measured in the tracking system and energy measured in the calorimeter system onto the r − ϕ r-\phi plane, and are defined as p T = p sin θ p_{T}=p\sin\theta and E T = E sin θ E_{T}=E\sin\theta . Here, θ \theta is the polar angle measured with respect to the interaction vertex. Missing E T E_{T} ( E → T {\not\!\!\vec{E}_{T}} ) is defined by E → T = − ∑ i E T i n ^ i {\not\!\!\vec{E}_{T}}=-\sum_{i}E_{T}^{i}\hat{n}_{i} , where i i is the calorimeter tower number for | η | < |\eta|< 3.6, and n ^ i \hat{n}_{i} is a unit vector perpendicular to the beam axis and pointing at the i th i^{\mathrm{th}} tower. The transverse mass m T m_{T} is defined as the invariant mass of the sum of the transverse projection of the momentum vector of one decay product and the missing energy vector E → T {\not\!\!\vec{E}_{T}} . The pseudorapidity η \eta is defined as − ln ( tan ( θ / 2 ) ) -\ln(\tan(\theta/2)) , where θ \theta is measured with respect to the origin of the detector. We define the magnitude E T = | E → T | \mbox{${\not\!\!E_{T}}$}=|{\not\!\!\vec{E}_{T}}|
