The evolution of spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models containing a perfect fluid with equation of state p=w\rho\ and a cosmological constant \Lambda\ is investigated for arbitrary combinations of w and \Lambda, using standard qualitative analysis borrowed from classical mechanics.
