A search is performed for heavy metastable particles that decay into jet pairs with a macroscopic lifetime (ctau ~ 1 cm) in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using data from the CDF II detector at Fermilab corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb^-1.

The CDF II uses a cylindrical coordinate system in which ϕ \phi is the azimuthal angle, r r is the radius from the nominal beam line, and z z points in the proton beam direction. The transverse plane, r − ϕ r-\phi plane, or sometimes referred to as x x - y y plane, is the plane perpendicular to the z z axis. In addition, θ \theta is defined as the polar angle measured with respect to the interaction vertex. Transverse momentum and energy are the projections of total momentum and energy onto the r − ϕ r-\phi plane and defined as p T = p sin θ p_{T}=p\sin\theta and E T = E sin θ E_{T}=E\sin\theta , respectively
