We use the recently completed one billion particle Via Lactea II LambdaCDM simulation to investigate local properties like density, mean velocity, velocity dispersion, anisotropy, orientation and shape of the velocity dispersion ellipsoid, as well as structure in velocity space of dark matter haloes.
