Using a 281 pb^-1 data sample collected at the psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report the first observation of D^+ to eta e^+ nu_e.

We have also searched for D + → η ′ e + ν e D^{+}\rightarrow\eta^{\prime}e^{+}\nu_{e} with η ′ → ρ 0 γ \eta^{\prime}\rightarrow\rho^{0}\gamma . This mode has a large branching fraction and detection efficiency but also large background. No significant signal was observed. Uncertainties in the simulation of the background complicate extraction of an upper limit and so this mode is not used
