We use a cylindrical coordinate system about the beam axis in which θ \theta is the polar angle and ϕ \phi is the azimuthal angle. We define the pseudorapidity η \eta of a particle’s three-momentum as η ≡ − ln ( tan θ 2 ) \eta\equiv-\ln(\tan\frac{\theta}{2}) . The transverse energy and momentum are defined as E T = E sin θ E_{T}=E\sin\theta and p T = p sin θ p_{T}=p\sin\theta where E is the energy measured by the calorimeter and p p is the momentum measured in the tracking system. The missing transverse energy is defined as / E T = | − ∑ i E T i n → i | \,/\!\!\!\!E_{T}=|-\sum_{i}E_{T}^{i}\vec{n}_{i}| where n → i \vec{n}_{i} is a unit vector in the transverse plane that points from the event vertex to the i i th calorimeter tower
